these are the socks i was finishing last night. the weather has been quite chilly and it has snowed a couple of times so it is good to have some extra socks to keep the little ones´ toes warm.

i have been quiet here but my knitting needles have been swinging. i have no christmas knitting -reason to keep out blogging, i just have been staying away from the computer.

i have been knitting stripy knits. stripes is the way to keep my girls warm this winter. all of these knits have been in good use. it has been freesing cold and the winter has barely started.

these fingerles mittens have already been put aside though. you need something more to warm up your fingers in december. Pattern: my own, yarn: sandnes lanett (brown, teal and white) and some other wool yarn.




some basic socks to keep small feet warm and toasty. yarn: gjestal maija. and one other stripy pair (grey and purple) is waiting for me to bind of the yarn ends.

see any pattern? violet, pink, brown and grey seems to be the most popular colors lately.

täällä ei ole tapahtunut mitään uutta, joten jotakin vanhaa sitten. minulla on ollut käsi kipeänä yli kuukauden ja neulominen on sen myötä jäänyt.

tässä on minun ensikosketus noron sukkalankaan. lanka ei pääsyt suosikkeihin. ihan mukavaa sen on mutta sukkia en ehkä tästä tykkäisi tehdä. huivi on mukavan pieni ja kevyt ja baktuksen neulon varmaan joskus toistekin.

**here is my first touch into noro yarns. it did not come one of my favorites and i don´t see myself knitting socks from it. yet i like the feel of it and how there´s so many beautiful shades (which i wouldn´t have thought of mixing and matching myself). the scarf is just lovely, small and light.

there was actually a glimpse of daylight when i got home yesterday after work. wonderful.

this poor blanket was waiting one hole year for me to make up my mind if i want to continue knitting this bigger or not. and i did not. at first i planned to knit this to my daughters, and they actually got this - for they dolls. perhaps i knit this in bigger size someday.

tämä peitto odotti vuoden neulomatta. inspiraatio ei niinkään ollut hukassa vaan en vaan tiennyt että jatkaako sitä suuremmaksi vai ei. alunperin oli tarkoitus neuloa lasten huoneeseen torkkupeitto. no sinne se nytkin päätyy mutta nuken sänkyyn. ehkä joskus sitten astetta suuremmassa koossa.

plot: all began when some 7 skeins of rowan felted tweed, knitting needles and tangled yoke pattern hooked up. the knitter started to knit. the sleeves and the body up to the armpits went smoothly and pretty quickly. the knitter had only little previous experience about knitting yoke but the director was sure she was able to manage it.

the plot thickens after the first yoke decreases. first rows of the cable chart went pretty easy but after that the knitter started to make some mistakes. she spotted some and frogged. knitted some more and frogged some more. the knitter tangled the cable big time and after row 18 the director made a decision that affected the hole outcome. the knitter frogged all 18 rows and continued, no longer with the chart but plain stockinette. the rest of the knitting with all that stockinette went predictably easy.

spoiler alert: extras had to be hired to finish the project


post production took a l o t o f time. the knitter already had some other projects and the director hates sewing buttons and binding of the yarn ends. the weather had been great for weeks and the director began to feel worried that the project wouldn´t be ready for beautiful frosty photo shoot in a nearby lake. so she made a move and hired a co director to help. the director offered new wool socks or some other warming accessories as a paycheck but the co director was happy with a glass of red wine. that was easy. buttons got sewn in no time and the director continued with yarn ends. the cardigan got completed and ready for the first appearance, which was quick for a reason - minus eighteen celsius and some chilly breeze.



director is happy with the result and wants to thank rowan for making such a wonderful yarn, eunny for creating and writing the pattern and dh for making sure that the project is done and for being so lovely.

it´s been cold in here as it is been quite a many places in the whole northern hemisphere. i knitted warm alpaca mittens for my girls to keep their fingers nice and toasty. i had no pattern, i just knitted.

neuloin tänä vuonna kaksi joululahjaa. annan ne jo ennen joulua ja jollekin minulle tuntemattomalle henkilölle. kaupungin sairaalan pitkäaikaisosastojen vanhukset saavat lämpimät jalat, keräykseen on tullut syksyn aikana yli 400 sukat. loistavaa!

only couple of weeks ago our yard was covered with maple leaves. now it is covered with beautiful snow.

nyt kun maassa on jo lunta niin on mukava katsella kuvia muutaman viikon takaa, tuolloin piha oli vielä kuorutettu vaahteran lehdillä.

i knitted these sweaters to my daughters. they use same size clothes so it is easy to make two sweaters in a row, just change some colors.

both sweaters are made of sandnes lanett. it is one of my favorite yarn. it is thin, soft and has some nice shades. and i did use a other favourite thing too. i took the measurments and stitch amounth of the book the knitters handy book of sweater patterns. (rav link). a really handy book.

i run out of the green yarn at the very end. it is discontinued and i didn´t find any more from the lys so i had to improvise a little. i ripped one row of the body and used it and the yarn ends to finish the last stripes of the sleeves.

the sweaters are almost identical. both are knitted bottom up with raglan decreases and has a same amount of stitches. i knitted k1,p1 ribbing to the first one and plain garter stitch edging to second one.

tyttäret käyttää saman kokoisia vaatteita, joten on helppoa tehdä kaksi paitaa peräkkäin samasta langasta, kun ei tarvitse erikseen miettiä mittoja. molemmat paidat on tehty samalla mallilla: paidat on neulottu perinteisesti alhaalta ylös, silmukoita on sama määrä ja hihoissa on raglankavennukset. toisessa paidassa on 1o1n resorit ja toisessa raunat on sileää, joten ne rullautuu mukavasti.

lankana paidoissa on lanett. ylemmän paidan vihreää väriä ei enää värikartasta löydy eikä löytynyt enää lankakaupan hyllyn pohjaltakaan, joten sen kohdalla piti hieman säätää. yksi raita on riviä lyhyempi kuin muut ja hihan viimeiset pari riviä piti neuloa langanpätkistä. mutta se ei menoa haittaa.

lanett on yksi lempilangoistani. se on ohutta ja pehmeää ja värikartastakin löytyy kauniita sävyjä. toinen lemppari asia mitä käytin on kirja the knitters handy book of sweater patterns. (löytyy ravelrystä) sieltä vaan mitat ja silmukkamäärät ja neulomaan.

täälläpäin on pari viime päivää saanut nauttia kauniista, kirpeistä ja aurinkoisista syyspäivistä. pihalla oli tänä aamuna kasveja jäätynyt kauniisti kallion koloihin. kuvissa jään päällä on keväällä valmistunut raitapipo. pipo on ollut tyttärellä ahkerassa käytössä, se on juuri sopiva näillä keleillä ennen talven viimoja.

we have enjoyed crispy mornings and beautiful sunny weather. there were some frozen plants on the yard this morning. i took a picture of a striped cap i knitted last spring from some left over yarns. my daughter has worn in quite a lot, it is great now before chilly winter arrives.

tykkään tästä mallista, langasta ja väristä. en ihmettele miksi tämä on niin suosittu malli. ravelrystä löytyy jo melkein 4000 projektia.

lanka on minulle uutta, kiitos halvan punnan! tätä täytyy kokeilla ehdottomasti toistekin. lankaa on helppo neuloa, väri on mukavan eloisa ja ei ollenkaan liian kirjava.

tein koon xxs (en oo ihan niin pieni) silmukoilla muuten mutta lisäsin kolme silmukkaa puolelleen "nappilistaan". jätin eyelet lisäykset tekemättä ja jatkoin raglanlisäyksiä vähän pidemmälle. ja hihat on kokonaan ainaoikeaa. muuten taisin seurata ohjetta.

lankaa kului tasan kolme kerää, 360 g. uskomattoman vähän. yhtään riviä en olisi enää saanut neulottua. lanka venyy pituussuunnassa ihan mukavasti kastelun jälkeen ihan ilman pingottelujakin, joten ei olisi tarvinnut ollakaan yhtään pidempi.

i love the pattern, the yarn, the color! i used dream in color classy for the first time. it is soft and easy to work with and the color has right amount of variation for solids-loving knitter.

mods: i knitted xxs and added three stitches to both sides. i omitted the eyelet row and continued with raglan increases little longer and made garter stitch sleeves.

tässä on viime vuoden viimeinen valmistunut työ. kuva on otettu joulun aikaan , joten lunta oli siis silloin melkein sukan varrellisen verran, nyt ehkä jo vähän enemmän.

lanka, trekking pro natura, ei hypännyt suosikkien joukkoon mutta ehkä tätä voi toistekin kokeilla. aluksi oli pientä sotkuongelmaa, värjäytymättömiä kohtia ja neulepinnan jälkikään ei ole kauneinta. sukkia tosin ei ole pingotettu, joten voihan se siinä vähän tasoittua ja puikotkin olisivat voineet olla himpun ohuemmat. tykkään kuitenkin enemmän vähän jämäkämmistä langoista. vielä ei ole kokemusta langan kestävyydestä (en ole pätellyt langanpäitä...). malli on kuitenkin mukava ja käy hyvin miesten sukkiin. ihmeen vaikea on kuitenkin neuloa 4o, 1n.

globe trotter socks to dh were my last finished knit of the year 2008. pictures are taken during christmass, so we had legful of snow then. i used trekking pro natura for the first time. yarn is beautiful but i didn´t like knitting it. texture is quite loose so maybe i should have chosen smaller needles. it got quite many undyed spots and it is not as soft as other bamboo blend yarns i have tried. pattern is nice simple and easy.

ensilumi on satanut näillekin leveysasteille, joten kai se talvikin on tulossa. talven viimat saa ihan rauhassa hyökkiä vastaan, kaulalle ei tule ainakaan kylmä. lämmin vihreä on ollut kestosuosikki jo iäisyyden mutta tämä keltainen sävy iski ihan kunnolla nyt syksyllä, enkä taida olla ainoa. keltaisia paitoja, huiveja ja pipoja tulee jatkuvasti vastaan neuleblogimaailmassa.

first snow is on the ground so i guess winter is coming. i have a new scarf with me to battle against winter storms. pattern is very easy and surface looks interesting.

mallineule on todella helppo ja yksinkertainen mutta silti mielenkiintoisen näköinen. neulotaan vaan *3o, 1n*, 1o joka kierroksella. huivi ei ole kovin iso, 150cm * 22cm mutta ylettää hyvin pari kertaa kaulan ympäri. ja paksuuden puolesta huivin ei tarvitsisi ollakaan isompi. yritin aloittaa pipolla mutta muutaman mallin ja useamman aloituksen jälkeen tein vain huivin. kiva valopilkku se on tämäkin ruskean talvitakin kanssa.

neuloin vuosi sitten puoliskolle samalla mallineuleella harmaan huivin. tästä se varmaan alkaa se samanlaisissa vaatteissa kulkeminen..

the scarf is chunky but not very big, just 150 cm * 22 cm, it reaches two times around my neck. first i started to knit a hat and tried a couple of different patterns but they didn´t look good so i used all four skeins to this scarf. even without the hat it brightens up nicely my brown winter jacket.

pienille, kasvaville jaloille tarvitaan lisää lämmikettä syksyn tullen. ja kolmesta lankakerästä syntyi sopivasti kaksi paria mukavan raidallisia sukkia. syksyn lehdet alkaa olla jo tippuneet maahan mutta kun neuloin näitä sukkia, oli ruska puissa parhaimmillaan.

vanhempi tyttäristä toivoi vihreitä varpaita ja kantapäitä. nuorempi halusi punaista ja oranssia.

i am not into summer yarns (i l o v e summer though) so i knit socks. knee-high.

tykkään kovasti tuosta kantapään rakenteesta. ihan uusi minulle. istuu hyvin jalkaan ja oli vielä hauska neuloa. niinkuin sukat muutenkin.

i really like the construction of the heel. it is beautiful and fits well. and it was fun to knit.

muokkauksia oli muutama. aloitin varpaista eri tavalla, magic cast on hyväksi havaittu. halusin pidemmät sukat ja neuloin 16 mallikertaa kuviota. ja lisäksi sukan varsi on sileää palmikkoa lukuunottamatta.

mods: i knit these knee-high, obviously. i made 16 pattern repeats after the heel. i made the toe differently with my favourite magic cast on. and i left the heel flap and cuff without ribbing.
